What Will Happen? -- Dale Hollow National Hatchery is having a tough time getting the funds it it needs to continue operating as in the past with invaluable trout stockings in Tennessee. Five other hatcheries are also having tough times as the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services searches for ways to resolve a budget shortage. The interview here is with Andy Currie, the manager of Dale Hollow National Hatchery. The news is not good, but at the same time, it’s not over. You may want to let it be known how you feel about a program that likely makes more money than is spent. While TWRA will continue to stock trout in many bodies of water, Dale Hollow National Hatchery raises some 300,000 pounds of fish a year. It’s a serious subject that needs the attention of Tennesse sportsmen. The interview is from my radio show May 28th, 2011. -- Doug M.
